LifeLine
Training - What Does it Involve?
After an initial introductorymeeting you will be invited to apply to partake in
LifeLine
training and you will be requested to supply two personal referees. You will
then be interviewed to see whether
LifeLine
is for you and you are for
LifeLine.
Those people who select to proceed will then receive at least
50
hours of professional training. The training you will receive is recognised within the sector
as being of the
highest
standard. The training will cover areas as diverse as
basic
theory, specific skill training, self awareness exercises, telephone
counselling skills, awareness of referral agencies, counselling
practice, specific situation training
(e.g. suicide calls, grief) and more.
You will then share in a number of tandem duties with experienced telephone
counsellors as you find your feet. You also receive ongoing training,
supervision and support.
There may be a small charge for the training. In addition, we ask for a two
year commitment to the service including night duties. For more information, or to seek answers to any questions on becoming a
